My DIY art and some other Talented Folks!

Our family Prints

Last week I showed you the reveal of my living room that I have been working on since Last July.  Thank you all so much for your kind words, thoughts, and take on the room.  It was a blast to work on. I plan on breaking down the room a bit to share some of the little details of the space.  It's always a little bit tricker designing in my own space versus a clients room because I tend to over think too many things.  My type A personality always has 20 ideas for my space, but in the real world I can only pick a few to do. One of the framed peices that I really wanted in our space was an art peice that was first of all black and white, a little bit abstract or different, but wasn't … [Read more...]

How to Make a Sophisticated Flower arrangement, Yet Simple.

photo3

If I could pick any other Dream job besides being a Mom and Designer I would choose working in a Florist shop. I am obsessed with any type of flower and I'm always looking for simple, but different way to arrange them. For the photo shoot in our living room a few weeks back, I chose to use this white bowl I found. I love its sharp edges, but it's simplicity. The sunlight really falls nicely on it don't you think? I chose White wax flowers for my arrangement, because I wanted one large mound of one type of flower. The great thing about this type of flower is that not only is it cheap, it lasts really long (2-3 weeks) and it's simply stunning. First Step: Purchase a very large … [Read more...]

Our Living Room Reveal!

_DB19629

The time is finally here to be able to share a few of the photos that were taken awhile back of our living room now that it's mostly complete.  I'll shed some light on all the details as the next few weeks come upon us, but for now I'll finally show a few photos as I think  I've made some of you wait too long to see them. This room was started last July 2011, with a hefty work  list to complete, while working on our kitchen redesign as well.  With both of us working from home, 2 busy kids, and all that goes with being a family, this project really took awhile to complete.  The one thing that both of us love the most about Renovations, building, and design is that there were endless … [Read more...]

Thoughts on Colour Blocking!

I've got Colour blocking on my brain ever since I did a very Minimalistic version for  our Bookshelf in our living room.  I wanted the book shelf to come across as light and airy, modern with a bit of glam and bring out some really bright and cheerful colours.   Photos of our living room to come soon, really I promise...  Hopefully this week!  With quite a few projects of my own and other clients the work in my own house  has taken a back seat for now.  Totally okay with me. When I think of colour blocking, I think that it's a very much a very forgiving way to decorate your home, or even for fashion.  All you have to do is pick 2-3 bright colours and place them together, Or … [Read more...]

Painting My Kitchen Cabinets: Part 2

Snapseed

Yesterday I left you all hanging in regards to what product I used to paint my cabinets out in the right undertone. I will say that taking on this little project was not thrilling to do, but afterwards it was one of the best smaller "to Dos" in my kitchen so far. Not sure if I have a before photo kicking around, but this is a close up to give you an idea of how well the product that I used went on. The Product that I used is a one that I have been wanting to use for quite some time. It is called "Cabinet Coat". I purchased it at my local Benjamin Moore paint shop. It was highly recommended by the staff, so I was really excited to see how it would work. The base of it is white so … [Read more...]

Painting My Kitchen Cabinets.

One of the most important posts that I have meant to write is todays post Part 1.   So listen up! Soon I  am about to share an earth shattering, ground breaking, and wonderful product that I have used this past winter.  Well.. are you ready? Well here it goes. This past winter as a part of my new kitchen redesign, one of the really important elements in pulling my kitchen together really well is that my kitchen cabinets needed to be painted.  If you have been to my house before then you would know that my cabinets were already white!  How could this be, and why would you want to paint them? When we purchased our stock cabinets almost 3 years ago, we purchased … [Read more...]

A History Lesson: Our Living Room.

fireplace before

On Monday Darryl and I finally got a chance to photograph our living room space that I have been working on since July.  Yes, you read right... July.  There was a huge list that needed to be done, and I wrote about it here if you have a few hours... just kidding. Before I reveal the photos next week I think it's appropriate to "show and tell"  some history and BEFORE  Photos of this space that we call OUR HOME. This picture represents the outdated tile the builders installed in our home now almost 9 years ago.  It's hard to believe that we have been here that long, but we have loved the location of our home so much, and the layout of our home is just perfect for us!  Lots of … [Read more...]

Grand Opening Media Night At The New Richmond Ikea!

IMG_0340

Monday night Darryl and were privileged to be able to attend the Grand opening night for Media only! Welcome to the New Store! Let me show you around......         We were greeted at the top of the stairs with an open Bar... (I have to say, a favorite of all of us! )   A DJ mixing out the music!   Lots of friendly faces and it was a chance to greet with some new and old faces! Near the end of the night, we all needed to sit on some of the new patio furniture to rest our achy, tired feet after a long Monday! This Ikea sure knew how to put on a good party! They gave us a chance to get a great discount, amazing appy's and drinks.. We had the … [Read more...]
